Ever watch the moguls in the Olympics?

First thing I think is “ouch, my knees!” Left. Right. Up. Down. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. That’s got to take a toll, but WOW it looks like so much fun! We aren’t all Jonny Moseley. That being said, you don’t need to be a World Champion to reap the benefits of going into the ski season strong and ready to go. Bottom line is, regardless of your skiing ability level, the shape you are in is going to have a drastic impact on how good, and how long, your ski season is.

Here’s the conditioning plan (this is how we’re going to take a bunch of you regular folk and turn you into Jonny Moseleys, right?) straight from the coach’s clipboard;

Weeks 1-2 Base Conditioning
-Cardiovascular exercise and calisthenics to warm up
-Bending, Squatting and Rotation with your own body weight
-Learn strength lifts with lighter weights

Weeks 3-4 Get Stronger
-More vigorous cardiovascular exercise and body weight exercises
-Lift progressively heavier loads with each piece of equipment
-High volumes of level change with added lateral motion

Weeks 5-6-7 Get Powerful
-Body weight exercises and foot drills (now we’re going to do the footwork at the start)
-Agility drills, jumping drills and rowing intervals all with progressively harder work/rest ratios

The great thing about our Ski Conditioning Camp is our ability to tailor the individual exercises to meet the needs of different ability levels. Don’t worry if your not in shape right now…that is what this camp is designed for. We have the equipment and know-how to help everybody, from novice to professional!
